Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions that people most often ask about the International School Award scheme:
Any school or college in the UK with pupils aged between 3-18 years can apply for the International School Award.

Schools that are successful at the Foundation category will receive a certificate of achievement from the British Council, they will also be able use the Foundation ISA logo. See guidance for Foundation.

Schools successful at the Intermediate category will receive a certificate of achievement for their commitment to internationalism in education, they will also be able use the Intermediate ISA logo. See guidance Intermediate.

Schools successful at the Full International School Award will receive a certificate of achievement to recognise their being accredited with the Award as well as the Full ISA logo for their publicity materials. This is a significant achievement and we would encourage schools to widely celebrate their range of international work.  These schools are accredited for three years. See guidance for the Full ISA.

All schools in the ISA scheme agree that the international activities undertaken have made an invaluable difference to the school as a whole. See why schools have done the ISA

Schools can apply for the category which they feel is suited to the international work in their school; it is not necessary to apply for each category in turn. More about each category

You can apply for the Intermediate category while working towards the Full ISA. This will give you immediate recognition for the international work your school has already done.

The deadline for the Full International School Award 2010 action plans has now closed, the deadline for the Full ISA 2011 will be announced shortly. Foundation and Intermediate applications can be submitted at any time of the year.
