Supporting languages

We aim to support the Intercultural Diversity Toolkit developed by the Association of Language Learning. To this end we offer teachers delivering MFL provision (primary or secondary) very strong and specific support.

This includes the following options (all provided free):

  1. a link school in Europe, or worldwide, which has native speakers in the target language and is teaching English
  2. a link school in Europe or worldwide which is also teaching the target language (eg Romanian, Moroccan or Italian schools where French is being taught)
  3. advice on funding streams
  4. advice on ICT for communication using the target language
  5. a free project space on eLanguages or on eTwinning
  6. alerts for events and project opportunities

We are delighted to work with the CILT Comenius regional network advisors, NALA, ALL and any other LEA adviser, inspector, advisory teacher or support staff and will provide support for any language-focused regional event in the form of the offer stated above.

Materials to help you

We have a special version of the Global Gateway leaflet to appeal to primary schools considering a link within Europe or with Latin America to support French, German or Spanish or community or other global languages.

Presentation about virtual linking activities to support cultural exchange and language learning.

Powerpoint slides (three) to insert into a presentation to outline what we offer to help teachers add a cultural dimension to language teaching (feel free to brand these).

Referring schools

The page to refer schools for assistance with linking for languages is:

Echange R-T-Q

This is a project designed to offer real interaction and simple cultural exchanges between primary and secondary schools with Francophone schools. Current focus is Guadeloupe. All you need is one computer!
